'The Destrier' was a duo exhibition at Freehold Projects Leeds, in Collaboration with Artist Anais Comer who responded to nine paintings of different types of medieval horses with a story, which imagines a Grandmother’s ceramic horse collection. with in the narrative an enchanted Destrier is the starting point for a peculiar adventure.
A devil invited viewers into the belly of the Destrier sculpture, intimately sharing the tale. The hollow belly of the sculpture, mimics the hollow ceramic horse in the story. Old Curtains contribute to the structure that forms the inside of the Destriers belly. These soft furnishings echo the Grandmother’s house. The paintings; are battle-weary, contorted figures and horses whose devilish riders morph into them. Vinyl text extracted from the story snakes across the walls, columns and windows of the gallery.
